This is an older book and has that feel to it, but I did enjoy it. It held my interest from beginning to end.

EDISON MARSHALL IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS. SUCH BOOKS AS PRINCESS SOPHIA, THE VIKINGS,
YANKEE PASHA, THE AMERICAN CAPTAIN,CORTEZ AND MARINA EARTH GIANT AND CASTLE IN THE SWAMP ARE A WONDERFUL READ BECAUSE OF HIS EXCELLENT RESEARCH AND A MUCH MORE DEVELOPED TALENT.
THESE EARLY WORKS ARE JUST THAT. EARLY BOOKS SHOWING PROMISE BUT, JUST NOT THE QUALITY OF HIS WORKS FROM THE LATE FORTIES TO EARLY SIXTIES
THESE LATER WORKS ARE DIFFICULT TO FIND, BUT VERY MUCH WORTH THE EFFORT.
